Spammers. Ugh, one of the worst. If you have a tagboard on your site, make sure it can filter swear words/profanity. Make sure that it also tracks IP numbers. If you don't know how to make your own, dEkap.com has a really good tagboard that can track IP numbers and block them.
How to Identify a Spammer: Often spammers show up in tagboards. Example:
blah: you guys f*ck!n' suck, dis site sux lyke h3ll!
ARGH! I hate it when I see someone criticizing a good site that doesn't deserve such rotten people. Often spammers are haters basically, that can't stand to see a site better than theirs, or see a site made by someone they hate, or plainly just can't stand better webdesigners. If they think that they can learn and improve from looking at others' work, then maybe they'd get somewhere in life.
What to Do: First of all, tell them to get lost. They have no right to criticize your hard work, when they've got nothing nice to say. This is part of the golden rule: Say nice comments to others' sites and nice comments will return to you. Not always, but it's better than having everyone hate you, no?
Feel free to contact me, or give me your site url if you are dealing with a spammer. I will personally handle it UNLESS you really did something wrong, like direct link or steal copyrighted coding.
