Childhood Days of Elementary
Created: 02/15/2005
I miss the childhood days of elementary,
with monkey bars and hide-n-seek
during recess.
I miss the playground balls that slam
in your face during shambattle.
Or the rhythmic tapping of the jump ropes as they hit
the ground over and over again.
But now, a second-grader's chair,
brings my knees to my chest.
The highest bar of the monkey bars brushes my fingertips
while I'm on my
tiptoes.
I hop from box to box
staying within the painted lines of
hopscotch.
Now the boxes are too small for my feet.
The carefree days of monkey bars and hide-n-seek
are now long gone.
They are part of my past;
my childhood days of elementary.
