The Fall of Troy
Created: 03/03/2004
She came that day,
and brought our destruction
Next to my brother she lay,
only to end all fun.
She caused the fall of Troy,
the destruction of our great city.
Of hating Helen I felt no remorse,
my heart as heavy as lead,
my tears as light as a feather,
as I watched my beloved home burn.
The fall of Troy
How the gods turned against us,
and allowed my people to die.
I will not go quietly,
for everything I've seen is a lie.
Let my city burn,
I will not rest until everyone knows
that the love of a young, selfish boy
brought about the fall of Troy.
This was written for an English assignment in eighth grade. I was cleaning out my folders and stuff and came upon all these poems I wrote. I was going to throw everything away, so I decided to keep my poems at least. I had already written one from Helen of Troy's point of view, so inspired from the book "Inside the Walls of Troy," (which is what my Helen-based poem of the same name came from) I wrote this poem from Cassandra's (Paris's sister) point of view.
