Inside the Walls of Troy

Created: 2/26/2004

From Sparta I came,
Kidnapped and taken to Athens
My beauty is like no other,
The wanting of 12 men.
One was chosen above all the rest,
Menelaus of Mycenae
Against my will I followed him home,
Next to him I lay.
Until that faithful day,
A man named Paris came for me
Drugged my husband, and all but me
Beauty for all the world to see
Led me to his home,
Inside the walls of Troy.
My beauty caused an uproar,
But with Paris I only knew joy
With him, I am me
Not the Spartan toy,
I found happiness and disaster,
Inside the walls of Troy.

I read this book last year, in the seventh grade and really liked it. We had to read it again for English because we had a substitute, and then write a poem about it.
