Zipping Files with Winzip
Required for this Tutorial: Winzip 9 | Windows | A file to Zip or Unzip
Well, first of all, you need Winzip. You can download it for free here. Download the latest version. This tutorial is for beginners. The images supplied will really help you understand more visually.
Step 1: You downloaded Winzip. Great. Now open it up. (Usually can be found in the Start Menu). A window will appear. Click.
Step 2: On the far right, there's an icon labelled "Wizard." Click on that. Something else will pop up.
Step 3: Click. Click Next. Change your Favorite Zip folder if you want.
Step 4: Now you see three options. If you want to open a .zip file, select the first one. If you want to create a .zip file, select the third one. Click.
Unzipping:
Step 5: You see a window with a list of .zip files. Click "Search" if the one you are looking for isn't in the window. Click. Select a file, and then click Next.
Step 6: Click "Unzip Now." A folder will open up with the now unzipped file. Click.
Zipping:
Step 5: Click "Add Files" or "Add Folders" to add stuff to your .zip file. They will appear in the window. When you are done, clck "Zip Now." Click.
Step 6: The .zip file should end up in "My Documents" by default.
Additional Step: For first time users, this may appear. It just wants you to choose your opening. The very first box that opened was Winzip Classic. This "Next" and "Next" stuff that I taught you is the Winzip Wizard. Both work, but the Winzip Wizard will leave the unzipped files on your computer, whereas the Classic will let you view them so long as the Classic is open. Experiment with both and decide which you prefer.
